#1 Errand Time Saver
Running errands is a time-suck. That’s why making the most of your time is essential. Here’s an idea to help you recoup some of your time. It also helps keep you from backtracking or retracing your steps.
Plan your route.
Since COVID-19, I’ve been very strategic about where and when I go. I used to be out every day, taking the kid to school, going to the gym, and doing whatever else needed to be done that day.
Now, I am not so quick to run out to the post office or the bank to drop something off. I have been picking one day a week to complete everything.
For example, the other day I needed to go to:
- the drugstore to pick up a prescription
- the bank to deposit a check
- the post office to drop some mail in the box
- the UPS store to return an item I’d purchased from Amazon
- the local thrift store to drop off some donations
If I’d done those in the order that I have them listed, I would have been going back and forth a few times. Here’s how to fix that:
1. Take a few minutes to write a list of where you need to go and what you need to do.
2. Picture the places in your head.
3. Figure out what order they should be in so you don’t have to crisscross or backtrack your route.
That’s it. You’ll save both time and gas, and it only costs you a few minutes of concentrating.
