Picture it. You’re in the grocery store. You know you need to get something important, but you can’t for the life of you remember what it is.

You could wander the aisles hoping to come across it. Or you could use my #1 tip for organized grocery shopping and not have this happen again.

Keep a grocery list in the kitchen.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a paper and pen list or something you write on a dry erase board, keep it in the kitchen. Better yet, if you want to get really high-tech, add it to your grocery list on your phone via Siri, Alexa, or Google. Add to it as you run out of something or as soon as you realize that you’re low on something.

And add to it as soon as you think of something. Because if you’re like me, you will forget. I’m always underestimating my ability to remember grocery items, specifically.

The other thing you need to remember is to bring your list to the store. If it’s a list on your phone, just remember your phone. If it’s a paper list, that’s easy enough to grab. And if you’re using a dry erase board, take a picture of the list with your phone. That saves you from having to re-write the list on paper, and you will have it to look at when you’re at the store.
