5 Tips to Help You Delegate More Effectively

Sometimes it’s hard to let go and let others do the work, but if you want to run a successful business, it’s likely something you will need to do eventually. You really can’t be an expert in everything, and even if you could be, there is not enough time in your day to do it all. You need breaks to stay healthy and efficient, just like everyone else. The first two tips below also work for delegating tasks or chores to family members!

Know What NOT to Delegate

What are the things and activities you do well and feel the most comfortable doing? These are things you shouldn’t delegate because you can likely get them done quickly or efficiently. Other things that you might not want to delegate are those that require your personal input or touch.

For example, while it may be easier to get an assistant to make your calls, that doesn’t mean your customers or business contacts will appreciate not speaking with you directly. Ensure that the calls from an assistant would be appropriate. Likewise, at home, it wouldn’t be appropriate for you to delegate loading the dishwasher to your 3-year old.

Understand How to Complete Each Task Fully
