Everyone procrastinates.

Everyone.

However, some of us are better at dealing with procrastination than others. Do you want to know the secret? The people that get things done are more effective at minimizing procrastination.

We all know that getting things done can be challenging. It’s much harder than not getting things done — in the short term.

But procrastination has a steep price. It creates a lot of stress. Even though you may be relaxing while avoiding a task, you’re stressed and anxious. You also become more stressed when your deadline approaches.

Try these unusual strategies to deal with procrastination.

Put your procrastination to good use. When you procrastinate, you do something (a task or other activity) instead of what you should be doing. Use that. It might sound silly, but create a list that includes some awful tasks that you can add to your to-do list. You’ll then procrastinate on those tasks and perform the tasks you need to accomplish. The psychology of it is that we are willing to do an unpleasant job if we can avoid doing something even more unpleasant.
