Alone Time

I mentioned last week that I was going to be alone in the city where my kid is attending his summer program.

I am having a blast.

It turns out that I really like my company. And I was craving the solitude. My husband and I both work from home, so we spend an inordinate amount of time together. Even when we’re both working, we’re near each other. We had figured out a way to make it work where we gave each other space, and we were pretty successful at not getting on each other’s nerves.

And then, Covid.

Which meant no school.

Which meant the kid was also here, 24/7.

Which changed the entire dynamic. Not in a bad way, just different.

After about 9 months, we all became, for lack of a better term, sick of each other.

And now, we’re all getting our alone time. My husband is at home. The kid is doing his program. And I’m by myself, exploring a new city.

It’s glorious.
