Balance Your Personal and Professional Responsibilities Without Losing Sleep
It’s easier than you might think

Balancing personal and professional responsibilities can be difficult. It can seem like there is no end to the demands on your time. And you may feel like the only way to get everything done is to sacrifice your sleep.
Nope. Bad idea.
The good news is that getting everything done and enjoying plenty of rest is possible.
Try these tips to balance your responsibilities better to give yourself some much-needed sleep time:
Dedicate personal and professional time. It’s important to set boundaries between personal time and professional time. This is the first step in balancing both areas of your life. Split your day accordingly and stick to the separation.
How you use your time is up to you. The only rule is that each area doesn’t overlap with the other.
Prioritize responsibilities. Once you’ve set your boundaries, focus on prioritizing your tasks in each area. How you spend your time depends on what’s most important to you.
If it seems like you’re always addressing urgent matters, it also could mean that the important ones are getting overlooked. Understand that urgency does not equal importance. Handle your essential duties first whenever possible.
Try to plan out your week in advance. Sometimes your plans go astray, but having that plan will go a long way to keep you on track.
Keep responsibilities in perspective. Understand and remember that it’s ok to leave some things for tomorrow. You don’t have to do every single thing today.
And accept that it is better to do a few things well than many things poorly.
Sleep when it’s bedtime. The secret to getting sleep is giving your rest the same priority as your other responsibilities. If you start to honor your commitment to your sleep time, you will feel so much better that you will keep doing it!
Practice meditation techniques to relax you before bedtime because if you aren’t taking the time to quiet your brain, you’re apt to spend the first hour you’re laying down planning your activities for the next day, week, or month.
