Color And Music Can Help You Create a Calm And Soothing Space
Changing things in your environment can reduce stress.
There are lots of ways to help you create a calm and soothing living or working space. Two of the quickest and easiest are to:
- Add a scent, either in the form of a candle, essential oils, or room sprays or
- Reduce your clutter.
But two other, often overlooked things you can do that will have an immediate effect are to use color and music. What you see and hear each day has an incredible effect on how you feel. If you’re surrounded by jarring colors or decor or loud or distracting music, it can cause you to feel anxious and on edge.
To use color, first choose what you would like to change. Do you want to paint the entire space with new, calming colors or just one or two accent walls? Do you want to keep your walls white, but change your artwork or decor to more soothing colors or images?
Certain colors are known to have a calming effect. Violet promotes peace and balance. Pinks are soothing. Shades of blue can help your mind feel at ease. Whichever color, or colors, you choose to use, pick a neutral or soft hue to get the most benefit. Deep purple, hot pink, or royal blue will not give you the effect you’re looking for. Save…
