Decluttering: 5 Things to Get Rid of Right Now

You’ve decided to declutter — yay! The big things are easy to remember: your office; your closets; your bookshelves; kids’ toys. But there are other, often overlooked items that you can get rid of right now.

Grocery Bags

Admit it. You have a stash of grocery bags. Whether they’re reusable or plastic, we all have a stash. But really — how many do you need? Keep a few, and get rid of the excess.

Socks

You know the ones. The ones with no mate or holes that you’re planning to fix. Spoiler alert: if you haven’t made the time to fix them yet, you’re most likely not going to.

Old Reading Material

That stack of old magazines — the ones you’re planning to read one day? When, exactly, is that going to be? They need to be donated or recycled if you can’t commit to a date to go through them.

The same goes for books you’ve read and don’t need to keep. Find a local place to donate them. Nursing homes, shelters, and schools are good places to start.

Expired Items:

  • Medication

Go through your medicine cabinet and check the expiration dates on your over-the-counter…
