I get it. Decluttering is hard.

You walk through your home and see the things you love. Your books. Your CDs and DVDs. Your photo albums. Your knick-knacks. How can you possibly decide what to declutter?

If you’re struggling, it’s time to change your point of view. Here’s what I mean:

Get out of the house and find a place to sit, think, and make a list. Then, think about natural disasters.

If you experienced a fire, tornado, or hurricane and lost everything, what items would you mourn the most? What would you want to replace first? The items you write down when you answer these questions are the items you should keep.

The rest is just clutter.
