Downtime: Everyone Needs It
Several reasons why.
Downtime is essential for both our physical and mental health, but most of us don’t get enough of it. Here are several reasons why we need it:
It improves focus.
When you have too much to do, your brain can become overloaded, which can cause you to lose focus. By taking some downtime, you allow your brain to relax and recharge. This will enable you to focus better when you return to work.
It helps you make better decisions.
Sometimes we begin to feel overwhelmed with choices. This can cause impulsive decisions. When you’ve had time to relax and decompress, you will be better able to make well-informed, well-thought-out decisions.
It reduces stress.
If you’re constantly on the go, your body is in a constant state of stress. When you take time to unwind, it helps to reduce that stress, which, in turn, promotes better health.
It boosts creativity.
When you’re constantly busy, your mind never has a chance to wander and think of new ideas. Relaxing allows your mind time to explore and discover innovative ideas.
It can help you find your purpose.
It’s easy to lose sight of what’s important to you when you’re busy. Downtime can help by giving you time for reflection and self-discovery, allowing you to re-discover your purpose and direction.
