Embrace Your Unique Differences
Three reasons you should.
Do you view the things that make you different from others negatively? Many of us do. We see our differences as problems instead of opportunities and gifts. Here are three reasons you should embrace your unique differences:
You won’t waste time worrying about what others think of you.
This is so liberating. If you worry about whether you’re appropriately dressed for the occasion, whether your hair looks right, or whether people think you are lacking in some way, you’re wasting time and mental energy.
The truth is most people aren’t noticing you at all. That probably sounds harsh and depressing, but it’s true. Most people aren’t worrying about you, your appearance, or how you act. And the people who criticize your differences will never matter. The important people in your life love what makes you different. Concentrate on them.
You will have more opportunities.
That might sound strange, but look at it this way: the person who feels their differences are a problem instead of an asset will most likely prefer staying at home to interacting with others. And when one is withdrawn from society, there are fewer opportunities and experiences. Embrace your differences and see what the world has to offer!
