Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

I took July off. Which was new, different, and surprisingly, hard. I’m just not used to doing nothing, work-wise. I had scheduled all of my social media posts and blog posts in advance. I had pre-recorded and scheduled all of my podcast episodes. The only thing I did was check to make sure that my newsletter went out on schedule every week, which took less than a minute each time.

It was weird.

At first, I kept wanting to open my laptop and do stuff. But I’d already organized everything so well that there was, literally, nothing to do.

Now I’m getting back into the swing of work. And I’m excited for the brain activity — but I have to admit, I got lazy. I’m finding it to be more difficult than I thought to get going again.

I’ll get there. I know my brain will switch back on and I’ll get back into work mode soon. I have too many things brewing that I want and need to get going. The kid starts school on Thursday, which will help since he won’t be here.

I’ve worked out my schedule for the rest of August so that I’m doing necessary, but not difficult, things to ease myself into it. I’m also squeezing out the last bit of summer vacation by going to the movies this afternoon.

It’s about balance, right?
