Hanger and Closet Help

Do you have some clothes that won’t stay on the hangers no matter what you do?

I’ve got a cheap fix that doesn’t involve buying new hangers.

Buy a package of pipe cleaners from the craft store.

Yep, it’s that easy. Wrap a pipe cleaner on either side of your hanger, and voila! No more slippage.

BONUS TIP #1: Want a cheap way to make more space in your closet? Use a tab from a soda can. Put one hole of the tab over a hanger, and then put another hanger through the second hole of the tab. Now you’re double-hanging things, which frees up room on the rod.

BONUS TIP #2: If you’re having a hard time deciding which clothing items to part with, turn all of your hangers around backwards. Every time you wear something, when you put it back in the closet, put the hanger facing the correct way. At the end of 3 months (or 6 months, or a year — your choice), take out every piece of clothing that is still on a backwards-facing hanger and decide whether to sell or donate it. Chances are, if you haven’t worn it in the period of time you chose, you’re not going to.**

Now, go clean that closet!

**This obviously does not apply to formal wear that is only worn infrequently or seasonal clothing; I’m talking about everyday-wear items.
