How to Get Motivated

5 Tips to get you started.

Lazy days. We all have them. Those days when we don’t feel like doing anything. We know we have to, but we just don’t want to. Here are some things you can do to motivate yourself:

  1. Ask yourself if you’re hungry, thirsty, or tired.

Sometimes being hungry or tired can make you feel like you don’t want to do anything. Check in with yourself. Drink some water and have a snack. If you’re tired, take a nap if you can.

2. Set a goal.

It doesn’t have to be a big one. Your goal could be to return a phone call you’ve been dreading, clean out your email inbox, or file your paperwork.

3. Make a plan.

Once you have your goal, make a plan to achieve it. When will you return that call? Now? In an hour? When will you tackle that email inbox? After lunch? Figure it out and schedule it.

4. Find a role model.

Find someone you admire that gets things done. Ask them how they do it and what tools they use to motivate themselves. Sometimes having someone else give you encouragement and advice is all you need.

5. Take a break.
