I’m so proud of my son.

Not solely because he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

Because he busted his butt to make it happen.

He completed all of the requirements. He attended leadership trainings that weren’t required, because he wanted to be better leader.

He didn’t rush the process.

And he did it all on his own.

His Dad and I helped when he asked us to; mostly as sounding boards. Otherwise, we left him to his own devices as far as getting things done and figuring things out.

There were some stumbling blocks along the way with his Eagle project, but he took them in stride and redoubled his efforts. The result was a project that he was passionate about and is proud of.

Achieving the rank of Eagle is a big deal. But I think the bigger deal is that my son has become quite the amazing young person. He embodies the 12 points of the Scout Law: he’s trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

I love you, Kid.

Well done.
