Musings About Traveling

I love to travel.

I’ve always had a yearning to go places. I love to explore and discover new destinations. I love trying new food. I love finding unique, out-of-the-way shops and restaurants.

I also like going places that I’ve been before, especially if I enjoyed it the first time (or the 50th time — I’m looking at you, Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Disney Cruise Line).

Obviously, in 2020, we did not travel anywhere. And I missed it.

Oh, how I missed it.

I am thrilled that I am going to be able to take some trips this year. I’m most excited to see my family next month, but I’m also excited about my trip next week.

The kid is participating in a summer program at a University, and I am tagging along. Not to be with him at the program; rather, he is going to stay on campus, and I will be staying at a hotel. I will explore the city and visit some nearby friends.

You see, for all of my traveling, it has been a rare occasion that I traveled by myself. Usually it was with my husband and kid, or with my mom. Once the kid and I went on a trip without my husband, which was both fun and weird. We missed him.

But I am going to be totally solo for this trip, once I drop the kid off at the school.

I can’t wait.

Do you like to travel alone? Why or why not? Send an email to lisa@lisasealey.com and let me know.
