My Decluttering Plan
3 min readFeb 26, 2021
I’m moving across the country when my son graduates high school and goes off to college. I have 29 months to get things in order.
That probably sounds like a lot of time, but since I am working full-time to start my business, it is going to require a plan to ensure that everything gets done.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
- I cleaned out and reorganized my shed. I had some things in there that I didn’t want to bring along when I move, so I donated what I could, and then recycled and trashed what was left. Now I have room to put things that I *do* want to bring but don’t have room for in the house currently.
- I cleaned out and reorganized the front entryway closet. Now there are only suitcases, a few coats, and board games in there. I’ll decide what to do with the board games much closer to the move.
- When we got our new bed, I cleaned out the storage tubs that were under the old one, and I do not plan to put anything under the bed for the remainder of our time here.
- I cleaned out and reorganized the “Tupperware” cabinet in the kitchen. It was driving me crazy, and I was having trouble finding things. Now it’s in great shape, and everything that’s in there I plan to take with me.
That’s it. That’s all I’ve done. But it’s a start.
