How you choose to organize and store things in your home is a very personal thing. What one person likes, another would hate. Fortunately, there are lots of choices when it comes to storage solutions. Here are a few of my favorites:

Hooks.

Hooks are great for towels in the bathroom, bags and purses in your bedroom or closet, oven mitts in the kitchen, and coats, hats, and scarves near the front door. My favorite option for bedroom hooks goes over the door. That way, when the door is open, no one can see what’s hanging behind it.

Drawer organizers.

These work best in your dresser drawers for small things like socks and underwear, but I have also seen them used to organize t-shirts. They also work well in the kitchen to keep your cooking utensils, spices, and knives organized. My favorite uses for them, though, are in my office and craft room. My desk supplies are neat and easily accessible, and so are my most-used craft tools.

Baskets.

Baskets can be used for just about anything you can think of. You can have one in the living room or playroom to corral toys. You can have one near the front door to stage things you’ll need the next day when you leave the house. You can have one in the bedroom to store blankets and extra pillows. You can even have one in the bathroom for extra towels.

Shallow plastic tubs.

These are great for under-bed storage. You can use them for out-of-season clothes or shoes, extra linens, or even wrapping paper and accessories.

Pegboard.

Pegboards are great for organizing tools in the shed or garage, but they can also be used for craft supplies, office supplies, and pots and pans in the kitchen. Get creative!
