Podcast Episode 103— My Top Three Tips to Help You Meet Any Deadline
They work, but you have to too.
Today I want to talk about deadlines.
We all have deadlines for something. Some are easy to meet; others, not so much. Use these tips to help you get the job done:
- Planning is key.
Most times, you will have notice of when a project is due. If that’s the case, be proactive and look at the time you have available. Then break the project down into tasks based on your available time. If you clearly understand what you need to do each day, or week, to complete the project, it will be much easier to avoid the last-minute rush to get it done.
2. Give yourself a generous cushion.
It is a rarity to have a project run smoothly or according to plan, so allowing yourself extra time for unforeseen issues is smart planning. If you think you’ll need two weeks to complete a project, tell your boss or client that you’ll need three weeks. This works in your favor two ways; it gives you adequate time to finish if there are delays, and if you do happen to finish before the quoted deadline, your boss or client will be happy that you put in the effort to get it done earlier than anticipated.
