Have you ever noticed that some people are better at paying attention than others? Some people may have a diagnosed (or undiagnosed) condition, such as attention deficit disorder. Others may just be easily distracted.
Here are some ways to tell if you’re easily distracted:
You are often late. Sometimes, when you’re late, it’s because of unavoidable issues, such as unanticipated traffic along your route. Or an emergency that needs to be handled. But if you’re chronically late, it could be because you’re distracted by other things instead of focusing on getting ready to leave on time for your destination.
Your mind wanders when you need to be paying attention. When you’re in a meeting, do you notice things that have nothing to do with the meeting, such as how the bead of water is rolling down your water bottle or how the air conditioning is blowing a corner of your paperwork?
You are accident-prone or clumsy. Do you trip over things or walk into walls? Often, this happens because you are thinking about or focusing on something other than walking or where you’re going.
