Last week I talked about the correlation between being organized and mental health, and I mentioned just starting. To continue that conversation, here are 10 things that can be organized in 10 minutes or less:

  1. One kitchen drawer.
  2. One shelf of a bookshelf.
  3. The top of your desk.
  4. Your medicine cabinet.
  5. Your spice rack.
  6. Your laundry room or area.
  7. The top shelf of your bedroom closet.
  8. One shelf of your linen closet.
  9. Your jewelry box.
  10. Your bedside table.

Admittedly, once you get started, the task may take longer because you want to keep going. For example, I could never do just one shelf of my bookshelf. It would drive me crazy. I’d have to do the entire bookshelf at one time. But even that would probably take less than an hour to complete.

Some people differentiate between organizing and decluttering. Sometimes I do too, but when I’m talking about the bookshelf, for example, I take the approach that “organizing” and “decluttering” are the same thing — after all, at least in my mind, if the shelves are to be organized they need to be free of clutter and tidy as well as having the books themselves be organized.

What are some other things you can think of to organize quickly? Send an email to lisa@lisasealey.com and let me know.
