Today I want to talk about getting ready for school.

Yep, here in Arizona, it’s that time again.

School starts at the beginning of August, which is very early to me. But then again, we’re out before Memorial Day, so there’s that.

I have high hopes for this school year. The kid’s freshman year was cut short and finished off with “virtual learning.” His sophomore year was defined by more virtual learning, followed by a “hybrid” schedule (2 days per week in person and 2 days per week online), followed by a closure and subsequent return to virtual before the holidays. Then, 2021 started back with the hybrid schedule, and finished off with a “full time” (4 days per week) in-person learning.

Whew.

No wonder the kids were all struggling. It was a lot to take on and keep track of.

It’s time to put all of that behind us and start anew, so here’s a tip to help you get ready for the new, and hopefully improved, school year:

Take inventory before you leave the house or before you start “adding to cart” on Amazon or Staples.

It used to be that I’d buy filler paper and put it away somewhere safe, so my kid couldn’t raid it before school started. This hiding place was so safe that I forgot where it was…
