Today let’s talk about Halloween candy. If you have kids, you will probably wind up with more than you want to keep, especially if you’re trying to shed a few pounds before the upcoming holidays. Here are a few ideas for what to do with the leftovers:

You can donate it.

Here are some places that used to accept leftover candy. You’ll have to check with them for any restrictions this year due to Covid; last year there were some restrictions.

Ronald McDonald House — they give the candy to the kids who can’t go trick-or-treating.

Soldier’s Angels, Operation Gratitude, and Operation Shoebox all take candy to ship overseas to our troops.

Bring it to the office. If you’re back to working in an office, that is. Office candy always disappears quickly.

PRO TIP: If you are trying to avoid eating the candy yourself, DO NOT keep the candy in your office or on your desk. Put it in a different location to remove the temptation to snack on it all day. The office kitchen is a good place. Or a table in the reception area.

Put some in the freezer. You can break it up into small pieces and put in individual baggies to sprinkle on ice cream or to mix in with a milkshake. Or you could keep the fun size…
