Podcast Episode 55 — Post-Holiday Decluttering and the 30-Day Home Organization and Declutter Challenge

Some of you may have already put your holiday decorations away, and that’s fantastic. Others of us (ahem) have not. If you’re with me, here are some tips to help you get things straightened out so that next year’s decorating is easier.

  1. If there are things that are broken, in disrepair, or just worn out, throw them away.
  2. If you intend to replace them, start a list. You might even want to try shopping for them now, as many stores put their holiday things on sale after Christmas. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, put a reminder on your calendar to start searching again in September.
  3. If you have many tubs or boxes of decorations, now is the time to organize them. I used to have everything separated and my tubs labeled. And then life happened, and now I can’t trust that what’s on the labels is actually what’s in the tubs. Take everything out and put it where it belongs.
