Podcast Episode 87— Productivity Strategy: Avoiding Burnout
Burnout is the number one killer of productivity.
Today I want to talk about productivity and burnout.
Very little can cause a decrease in productivity as easily as burnout.
When you take your job home with you, if you work in an office, or work at home “after hours” if you work at home during the day, you increase your risk of burnout exponentially.
Taking your job home with you does not just mean doing some essential work during your evening hours. It also can involve thinking about your work all the time, even when you’re supposed to be relaxing or spending time with your family.
I get it.
It’s natural to want to do well at your job. Your performance is often the basis for promotions or raises. And if you’re worried about your job performance, you will probably spend a lot of time thinking about your job during your off hours. Unfortunately, this can make you overly stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed — in other words, burnt out.
What do you think happens when you’re burnt out? Do your productivity and efficiency increase?
Definitely not.
