Today I want to talk about organizing if you live in chaos.

Do you feel like no matter how hard you try, you can’t tame the chaos of your life? You’ve used calendars and tried to-do lists, but nothing helps.

You might think it’s simply a function of having too many things going on at one time, and you could be right. But there is an alternative explanation.

It may be due to how you organize your time. In other words, how you use your time makes all the difference.

Here are some tips to help you get turned around.

  1. Give yourself a break. Literally. Overwhelm can be overcome by taking short breaks. Call a friend. Read a chapter of a book. Watch an episode of your favorite show. Meditate. Whatever it takes, ground yourself so you can tackle the next task.
  2. Focus. Sometimes it’s noise and distractions that produce the feeling of chaos and causes you to lose focus. Eliminate distractions and noise, and concentrate on one task at a time. Keeping yourself focused will allow you to accomplish more, and when you get more done, you will feel calmer at the end of the day.
