When it comes to friends, there’s a big difference between quality and quantity. How many friends you have is vastly different from how important or valuable those friendships are. The emphasis you put on quality and quantity will have an impact on your level of satisfaction with your friendships.
Is Social Media Proof of Friendships?
Social media is an example of how emphasis is placed on statistics that measure your worth and value based on followers, likes, and engagement. The common belief is that more is better. But is having 1 million followers proof that you have 1 million friends? Clearly, the answer is no. Many friends or followers on social media are people whom you have never met, and never will. They can also be fake, or bots. And if they are not engaging with you, or do not communicate with you in any meaningful way, you may wind up feeling empty or let down.
