Have you ever moved to a different city or state? How did you go about researching where to live? Did you have resources that helped?

I have lived in 4 different states. All of my moves have been pretty easy, and they were all when I was pretty young. When I moved from Florida to Georgia, it was to go to school, and I got a list of apartment complexes from the school. I visited several of them and decided which one I wanted to move to. Simple enough. When I moved to California, I moved in with a friend of a friend who was looking for a roommate. Again, easy. And when I moved from California to Arizona, I also moved in with a friend temporarily until I could find my own place. Not a lot of stress there either.

My kid graduates in 3 years. I want to move again. I know I want to move back to Florida, but the exact place is up in the air right now. There are several factors to consider, and I’m glad I have the 3 years to plan.

I’ve started with making a list of where I DON’T want to live. That will save me time and energy looking somewhere I know I ultimately won’t be happy. From there, I’m going to start researching the cities that are most probable. I’ll start with the general statistics: population, crime rate, etc. Then I’ll narrow it down to specific areas and neighborhoods and begin looking at houses that are available to get an idea of what’s out…
