School Update

To borrow a quote from Hamilton, “And just like that, it’s over.”

Last week, we received an email from the school district saying that they’d been working with the County Covid task force, and the County believed that our metrics were not going to go into the red zone. They stated it was safe to continue with the hybrid school schedule through the end of this semester. They also said that it was going to be safe to start the hybrid instruction up again in January. Because of this information, the school board decided to continue in this manner.

Apparently they were wrong. Very, very wrong.

In one week, all three of the metrics that they use have skyrocketed into the red zone. We received word yesterday that the school board has cancelled in-person finals for next week. They are also having an emergency meeting today to talk about going back to a fully online instruction plan in January.

I have to say, it lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. They went back in person on the hybrid schedule, 2 days per week, on October 19th. They made it to December 10th. A total of 8 weeks.

With the way things are going, it may be February, or even March, before they go back to a hybrid plan.

I just go with the flow now. What else can one do?
