Family issues take center stage during the holidays. Even if you don’t have family drama, having people in your house can be stressful. Here’s my tip:

Take a break from your family.

I don’t mean for hours (although, if that’s an option, and you need it, go for it). I mean that you’re allowed to take some time — alone — to take a breather and recharge your batteries. Here are some ideas for things you can do:

  1. Go for a quick walk.
  2. Go into your bedroom, shut the door, and read a book for a few minutes.
  3. Wash your face.
  4. Run to the store for something you forgot.
  5. Go to the gym.

It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you take the time to preserve your sanity during the busy holiday season.

It’s ok. They can do without you for a little while.

Really.
