Trip and Race Recap
Mistakes were made and lessons were learned — but most importantly, epic fun was had.
Well.
Things did not go quite as planned for my races. The entire trip, even given the things not going as planned, was an amazing and wonderful experience, though.
I’ll start at the beginning.
Day 1 — Travel Day
I was meeting 5 of my friends there. We were all arriving at different times on different days, but we had a group chat going so we could find each other. I’ll identify them by their first initials: J, M, T, L, and R.
For the first time I can remember, neither one of my flights was delayed. I got there on time, and my ride was waiting for me. My bag came up on the carousel pretty quickly, and then I was on my way.
I got dropped at the resort and made my way to the check-in area because I had not received the “your room is ready” text. I explained that I wanted to know where to go to wait, and I was informed that my room was, in fact, ready. They gave me a map of the property, vaguely pointed in the direction I needed to go, and I was off.
Except I was going in the wrong direction.
