What Are You Doing For Fun?
I never really considered myself a social butterfly. Sure, I liked going out occasionally with friends, but once I had a kid, everything switched to activities that were kid-centric. Sports practices and games. Band performances. Scout meetings and events. Of course, we did fun family things too: movies, bowling, arcades, and travel.
And then, Covid-19.
We had to cancel our trips to see family in different parts of the country. We also had to cancel my kid’s college visits. I do have a trip planned for November, but at this point, I still don’t know whether or not I’m going. Right now, I don’t feel comfortable traveling.
Where I live, movie theaters are still closed, as is the arcade. The bowling alley is open, but I’m not comfortable going there yet, even with masks on. Band performances have been halted. Scout events have been cancelled, and meetings have switched to virtual via Zoom. There isn’t a whole lot of reason to leave the house right now.
I find that I’m really starting to miss going out and doing things. And yes, things have somewhat “opened up” and yes, I know that it is my choice to not participate at this time. I guess what I miss most is how things were.
We are doing our best to find the fun. We have been watching movies together at home, and playing board games. It’s not the same, though, especially since we are spending 24/7 with each other.
So tell me, what are you doing for fun these days? I need ideas. Send an email to lisa@lisasealey.com and let me know. I appreciate the help.
