This month it’s another book by J.R. Ward. Her newest release is called “Lover Unveiled” and it came out on April 20th.

This book is the latest in her “Black Dagger Brotherhood” series. It’s number 19, if you’re keeping track.

If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time, you’ll remember that I’ve talked about this series before. It’s vampires for grownups. I know a lot of people aren’t into that, and that’s ok. I like the books because of the characters and how well-written the stories are, not because they’re vampires. Don’t get me wrong, I do find her take on vampires interesting — but it’s not the primary reason I read the books.

I have to confess, though, that I didn’t love this one. Maybe I was just tired as I was reading, but I found it really hard to get into. There were too many seemingly unconnected events and characters at the beginning for me to keep track of, and I was super confused. I knew that they would ultimately all come together and it would make sense, but for some reason, that didn’t help. And, reading what I’m now writing, it appears that the confusion at the beginning colored my opinion of the rest of the book.

I will continue to read this author, though, because this is the first time that I’ve read one of her stories and didn’t enjoy it. I’m going to chalk it up to me being tired and possibly cranky. Maybe I’ll pick it up again in a few months and give it a re-read.
