What I’m Thankful for This Year

It’s certainly been a strange, stressful couple of years since Covid showed up. There are weird things, like the fact that my son is in 11th grade and so far this is the first year of high school that he hasn’t had to do remote learning. But the way things are going right now, that may change.

Despite the weirdness and uncertainty, there are things I’m thankful and grateful for too. Here’s my list for 2021, in no particular order:

  1. I was able to visit my family for the first time in almost 2 years this summer. I can’t even describe how wonderful that was.
  2. My son was able to go to a leadership conference in Washington, D.C. in June. It was a fantastic experience for him, and it also gave me time to be alone for a week and get a lot of work done.
  3. I was able to help out the marching band this year by being on the “uniform brigade.”
  4. That there was a marching band season this year. There wasn’t one in 2020. I love watching the kids perform.
  5. I published the 50th episode of my podcast. When I started it in 2020 I had no idea what I was doing and wasn’t sure I’d be able to come up with enough ideas to keep it going for very long.
  6. I created two challenges and put them up for sale — and people bought them!
