It occurred to me that I hadn’t done a post about my books for a while, and I was surprised when I checked that I had missed July, August, and September. Here’s what I read this summer:

Bridgerton: The Duke and I (Bridgertons Book 1).
Yes, I watched the series on Netflix. But a friend recommended the books as well, so I picked up Book 1 out of curiosity. There were no surprises in the book, but there were things missing. Apparently when the television series was created they added quite a few side stories and characters. I found the Netflix adaptation more interesting than the book, so I probably won’t continue reading this series. But if you like Regency novels and you haven’t seen the show, it’s a good read.

Don’t Hate the Player by Alexis Nedd
I don’t remember where I heard about this book, but I loved it. It is actually categorized as a Young Adult romance, but that didn’t matter because the story was fantastic. It follows two kids, Emilia and Jake, who first meet at age 10 and share their love of gaming. It fast-forwards to their high school years, and that’s when things get good. Emilia is living a double life, and Jake could threaten everything. Pick it up if you want a funny, well-written, quick read.
