Halloween candy. If you have little ones, you will probably wind up with more than you want to keep. Here are a few ideas for what to do with the leftovers:

Donate it. Here are some places that used to take it (you’ll have to check with them for any restrictions this year due to Covid-19):

Ronald McDonald House — they give the candy to the kids there who can’t go trick-or-treating.

Soldier’s Angels, Operation Gratitude, and Operation Shoebox all take candy to ship overseas to our troops.

Bring it to the office. If you’re working, that is. Office candy always disappears quickly.

Put some in the freezer. You can break it up to sprinkle on ice cream or to mix in with a milkshake. Or just eat it frozen.

Make some trail mix. Take leftover M&Ms and mix them with pretzels and nuts to make a delicious snack.

Put aside to add to gift bags. You can do this for birthdays or even holiday gifts. Everyone loves finding surprise candy at the bottom of a gift bag.

Whatever you decide to do with the excess, make sure you pick out your few favorites to keep for yourself!
