What’s On My Hook, October 2020 Edition

This month it’s all about scarves and dishcloths.

I saw the pattern for this scarf and I became a little obsessed. IT HAS POCKETS. I didn’t know this was a thing!

I followed the pattern exactly, and I like how it came out. It is the Willow Scarf pattern from All About Ami, and I used Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn in the color Succulent. I used a size N Furls Odyssey hook, which translates to 9mm.

I made a second one in a different color and left the pockets off. Although I love the look of the Willow Scarf, I prefer my scarves to be softer. The pattern, as written, has the stitches very tight, and that makes the yarn not as soft.

I decided to modify the pattern a little bit for the third try, and I like the way it came out better. I went up in size on the hook; I used a 15mm plastic hook, and instead of single crochet stitches I used double crochet stitches. This scarf is much softer than the first two, although they will probably be warmer.
